Math apps are a great way to have fun and learn at the same time. I have an iPad so these will work on that system. Here are some of my favorites.
Prodigy Math -GRADES 1-8 – 4.5/5 stars
This exciting math game teaches you math in a fun way. You can learn math up to 8th grade. You control a wizard that fights battles against monsters. You win by answering math questions correctly to cast spells. You can defeat or capture the monsters as pets. I started playing it online, and then I found the app on my tablet. You can do the same things, but it loads much faster. This fun game for boys and girls alike is where Harry Potter meets Pokemon meets math.
You can play for free or get a paid account. Advantages of a paid account:
- Sometimes a colorful box appears. Only members can open it. It awards extra gold, extra stars, and gives your whole team stars too.
- You can spin the wheel twice!
- You can wear special gear that give you awesome bonuses.
Elements – FOR GRADES 4-6 – 4/5 stars
A game where you try to reach the top of the tower by completing geometry tasks. At the end of each level you fight a battle with evil monsters. This game should really be for grades 1-5, my little brother plays it with some help. I love moving up the tower, it gives me a sense of accomplishment.
Dragon Box-GRADES 7-9-4.5/5 stars
You grow a dragon by answering algebra problems in a new way, with pictures. You learn how to solve for x without even realizing you are learning the rules of algebra. I love the way the dragons look cute at the beginning, and that they look awesome at the end. There is also a version for ages 5+.
Thank you! This is such a helpful list for when I buy gifts. I did some research during the holidays and wish I had this list then. I’m going to send your link to my friends with children. They will love this too! Congratulations on launching this blog!!
